Bologna-based Cooperativa Working has been providing a range of services to multi-utility companies for 15 years now. One of the services provided is gas and water meter reading in Emilia Romagna and Veneto totaling over 2,000,000 readings each year.
Due to a collaboration with Pro Gamma and its Instant Developer, Working has created OmniService 2.0, a geographical network meter reading management system based on cloud-computing architectures and smartphone terminals in a mobile phone network.
The main features are detailed below:
- RIA back office applications, with a management capacity of up to 50 million online readings.
- Meter acquisition and reading export in the formats required by customers.
- Logical rounds management with address geocoding so to predict the meters' positioning.
- Control panel for the meter reading operator and reading lots assigned to different operators via a drag & drop device.
- Lot control panel: progress status and real-time operator positioning on the map.
- Reading control panel: check of reading anomalies detected including the distance between the expected and actual reading position.
- Reports of the operators' activities with day-by-day number of readings carried out and working hours.
- OWA (offline web application) onboard terminal application: management of assigned meter readings, research and congruity reading check. It can work with or without an Internet connection. Where the Internet connection is available data are synchronized to the server each hour.
- Terminal integration: meters can be photographed and pictures loaded in real time; GPS reading of the physical position available; integration with maps to find out the meter's exact position.
- Types of terminal supported: iPhone, Android. Otterbox case protection.
